Part 2
Ahh, the me Generation. A bunch of scrubby looking crybaby pussies that can't take criticism or no for an answer. Want it all and wanted it yesterday. A group of dipshits that expect the world to revolve as well as EVOLVE around them. Adaptation means nothing to these people. Adaptation equates weakness in their eyes.
And when asked why they are this way, me's have a ton of excuses for you. They blame their parents. They point fingers at society, the education/youth athletics system, mentors, television, the internet, popular culture, Mister Rogers, what-have-you. No matter what, they never blame themselves.
So, why blame the parents? Because they've given you all you need? Society? Because this country has given you opportunities our parents and grandparents could only dream of? The education/athletics system? Because both went too easy on you? Mister Rogers? Because he said you were special?
This pointing of blame anywhere but on oneself could be the only truly Millennial thing about the me Generation. For decades, people have been looking for reasons why people are the way they are. Why spree killers snap, or serial killers go about their methodical rampages? The first to be punished are the parents. Then pop culture. Then maybe some poor teacher or bully gets brought into the mix because they were a little hard on the psycho. Or maybe there was some chemical imbalance, or undiagnosed medical issue that brought on the berserk? Society looks for anyone or anything to blame other than the nutcase himself.
The me Generation does the same for itself. This self-centered group of weak-skinned tulips isn't going to dissect their own psyches in order to find faults. In this way, we are narcissists. Based on the Greek myth of Narcissus - A moron so in love with himself he physically wasted away staring at his reflection in a pool - The narcissist thinks of himself as perfect. The outsider, however, knows the Narcissist to be a) delusional, b) in denial, c) putting on a brave, albeit stupid, front, or d) all of the above.
The me Generation is currently wasting away beside the pool. Unfortunately, there isn't a goddess around to turn us into flowers after we go.
By now, if you haven't watched the Morley Safer "60 Minutes" bit on The Millenials, I turn your attention there, as Part 3 will have everything to do with it.
Have a great holiday and be sure to read the finale, "A Craig Cares Special Report: Craig Dixon Reporting on the me Generation – Brought to you by Craig P. Dixon in association with southcoast247.com", next week.
